Behind the scenes – “Praying” before the show

Winning hearts over in Toronto

Goans in distant Toronto, Canada, were treated to a glimpse of their cultural heritage when a Goan tiatr entitled ‘Jit’ written by Adolf Silveira from Calangute was staged there on June 15. Directed by Joe Vaz and produced by Clema Fernandes, ‘Jit’ was much appreciated by the audience who enjoyed the evening.

Just want to tell you that the Konkani  Tiatr was very good and enjoyable even though I don't understand all the big Konkani words. It was very well attended and comments from people around were good,  you and all the actors did a great job and so was the band. Now you can relax and have a break.

Well done.

Hey lovely people,

That was a terrific tiatr. I talked about it on my show. In fact, I am still getting feedback about how good it was. Kudos to you both and your team.  I wish to thank you for giving me the opportunity to connect with your audience. Thank you for your support and help.  We will always continue to support any initiative that helps in preserving and spreading our language.
Thank you once again, you guys rock!!

Hi Joe/Clementine. (I like to say Clementine Portugues)

Congratulations,
Your ''Jit''tiatr was great. This is what the Toronto Goans are talking, from those who saw the tiatr also those who haven’t seen the show.
Yesterday I went for the Talent Show in Mississauga. There I met our Goans, believe me, at least 10 of them surrounded me. Most of them are ladies calling from far,  Petromas khoso assai-they talk very high about your Tiatr. They said that the Tiatr was the best among all the tiatr’s they have seen  in the past, and you Mr. Joe  better take care. Many ladies are after you, because of that song Senorita. (in Goa they do that immediately ‘’sango ani mitt unvar ani dhist khare-I believe that)
Anyways the credit goes to the Director and the Producer with their hard work-it takes a lot of work to organize one tiatr especially in Canada . In Goa it is different since there are lots of contractors that can be hired to do specific jobs.
Also I appreciate your family, without their support it is not possible-I noticed Denzyl, Satira, Jenessa &Valerie they were so supportive-running here and there till the end.

Congrats Clema for such a marvellous production - we enjoyed every moment of it and would like to share some pics that we took.
Keep up the good work and please congratulate Joe Vaz as well on our behalf.  You both made a great team and all your hard work appreciated.  Also congratulate all of the other talented artists who made their contributions - it was very tastefully done - never a dull moment !!!

Subject: Re: Comments on the Concert.

"The concert was great - because it brought out the following of the audience :

Laughter - the rather comical scenes played by the lady who came from London and the
man  from Goa  by the name of Petromax - that was really funny.... and people really had a laugh...

Sadness - the main concert where the girl contracts leukemia and dies - some of the audience were in tears....you could hear some sniffling and blowing of the noses.....

Happiness - the audience were also singing along the song sung by the "bride" - piri piri piri...and the great music and  and the other singers.

The message was clear, support your son or daughter in their chosen vocation in life - The father's wish was just that his daughter gets married to a rich man .......that is so shallow.....these days

And finally the funds raised went to a good cause in Goa.....

Francis
