A Konkani Tiatr "Kumsar" held on June 18, 2011

Goan Cultural Art proudly presented their long awaited Konkani Tiatr, Kumsar, at the Michael Power High School, Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. sharp.  Proceeds from this Tiatr will benefit Casa De La Esperanca, Colvale, Goa. Casa De La Esperanca was established in 1998 and is a home for destitute women and young children. They work with disadvantaged women and children helping them pick-up the threads of their shattered lives. Not only do they provide shelter but also feed, clothe and educate the children. Residents also have access to medical and counselling services in co-ordination with other Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).

The La Esperanca Trust, reg no. 2609/98 was set up in Anjuna in 1998 and later relocated to Colvale in 2005 to a house belonging to Angelo and Doris De Souza. In October 2010, the Public Works Dept, Govt of Goa informed the Trust that the house would be demolished on account of the widening of the NH 17. Consequently, another family in Colvale donated their ancestral home to the Trust in the name of their parents, Jose Anton and Justiana De Souza. Casa De La Esperanca is now located at House No. 64, St. Anthony's Vaddo, Colvale, Goa.

The Tiatr was such a success and I received a lot of excellent feedback about all of you.  To the youngsters who grew up speaking English the Canadian way eh!,  I was so impressed and hats off to you for doing such a commendable job with your part and songs. You guys were awesome and keep up with the good work towards Konkani. I must say I was skeptical about how you would keep up the Konkani accent but I was swept off my drums when I heard you sing and speak. Kumpar - Kumar song cast - Just superb , Bebdo - You were for real My little Molbailo dou - I can't express how good you sound. You are my favorite.  Nustekan - I hope you pass your MA with flying colors. And Badkar keep your eyes on her head. You guys were fishin' great.
A big Thank you to Joe Vaz for all your work and patience during Rehearsals with the band and all the crew who assisted in many ways to make this event a success.
Last but not Least - Thank You Clema and family for your kind hospitality during rehearsals.
I remember we had a rehearsal in Mississauga as well but cannot recollect whose home it was but just want to say Thank you.

Hi Clema,
A billion congratulations and you proved to yourself and to the whole Goan community that tiatristponn runs through your veins and when you set your heart out to do something it always has the Lords blessings and like your mother you have that 'lets do it' attitude, if it works it works if not at least we tried - and that’s the difference

Hi Clema

I meant to send you a quick note but never got to it. I wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed the tiatr on June 18 and it proved that the effort that everyone put into this venture was well worth it. Great Job!  I know that everyone around me at the hall commented on how they enjoyed themselves and the audience applause was evidence of this. Please pass on my best to all the members of your cast and the organizing team!

I would like to comment that I was a silent admirer of one ‘receptionist’ in the scene at the doctor’s office.  She did a great job and I watched as the audience was silent in astonishment! Could you please pass on my compliments to the lovely lady?

Thank you.
Aum atam Kumsar zalon. Don’t have to go to another till Christmas!
Take care
Felix

Dear Joe and Clema
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to you both Joe and Clema for allowing me to be a part of the play and the singing.  Congratulations on making it a grand success.
In particular, I really admired Joe for remaining patient and calm when it counted the most, not only during the practices but especially the play.
I truly enjoyed being part of the tiatr family and felt right at home during every practice.
Although Maria missed out on acting, she truly enjoyed the experience, homely atmosphere....and most of all, the people who made the experience so perfect.
Thank you for making this such a positive event, especially during this time of great stress for both Maria and I. Our daughter, Lourdes, would also like to convey her utmost gratitude for all the prayers, that have surely been answered, and have been instrumental in her recovery process.
If you ever need any help in the future, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would be honoured to assist in anyway.
Once again, thank you.
Patrick & Maria

CONGRATULATIONS!
You guys proved it!  From day one I knew this would be a HIT!
Olwen, the kids and I would like to sincerely thank you both for affording our children the opportunity to showcase their talent.  The hospitality at both your homes during the rehearsals and the support from your families during the rehearsals will always remain with us.  Everyone made a comment that this was the best directed play.  We all went and did our best and had fun that is what counts.
Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts.
